What a difference five months makes...

From our screwed up face little boy.... to our chubby cheeked fighter.

From our spread eagled breeched baby.... to our little kicker.

And from the nervous, scared and anxious family.... to a more relaxed and happy family.

In the past five months we have been witness to a life growing and changing.

From the little alien figure who was not ready to be born, we have watched him grow and become a little person.  We have seen him struggle and we have seen him fight.  We have held him and kissed him and taught him to fight for his life.

We almost lost Bubble Boy a few times in those early days and weeks.  But he is a little fighter and pulled through every time.

At five months, I'm sure there are numerous things he “should” be doing – perhaps sitting up, perhaps laughing, perhaps looking at starting solids.  But he isn’t.

What he is doing though, is remembering things.  A simple word ‘up’, has him reaching for your hands and straining to pull his head up.  Say ‘kick’ to him and watch as he pushes off your hands and slides across his mat.  Small milestones, but important ones.

I may not have had a real smile yet or heard his laughter, but everyday he shows me how well he is doing, he shows us all that he loves us and wants to stick around.  He shows us that by remembering the most important thing – to breathe!
